Supporting Evidence Tab

This content helps informaticians, clinicians, and researchers evaluate the clinical evidence contained in the CDS artifact. It will be used by those who review and update the artifact as well as those who make judgements about whether this artifact meets their institution’s/health system’s clinical needs.

  1. Source Description – Text field description of the relationship between this artifact and the source. Details might include how the source was used by the project team and/or how parts of the source were used to build the artifact.
  2. Source – If applicable, select from the dropdown menu a source listed in the Repository. This is a preferred method of referencing a source that might be cited by more than one artifact or is significant enough to warrant being added to the Repository database in a structured way. Sources commonly are the clinical references on which the artifact logic is based. Examples include guidelines issued by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force or the CDC, or guidelines developed by a professional medical organization. If you do not see your source listed, please contact the project team so that it may be added.
  3. References – Add your own references to external publications and resources related to the artifact. Currently, there is no required citation format for references.
  4. Recommendation Statement – A text field description summarizing the clinical recommendations supporting the artifact. Three additional fields are suggested for each recommendation statement. Multiple recommendation statements may be added and re-ordered.
    1. Strength of Recommendation – The strength of the artifact’s recommendation.
    2. Quality of Evidence – The quality of the evidence of the artifact’s recommendation (e.g., fair, good, poor). Evaluation framework used (e.g., US Preventative Services Taskforce, Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, Evaluation) should be referenced in the decision notes.
    3. Decision Notes – Notes describing the decisions and choices that went into the recommendation statement. May also identify any frameworks or evaluation systems used in the recommendation process.
  5. Artifact Decision Notes – A text field description that describes the use of the artifact in a pilot project.
